You do not usually need to register leasehold land or property if there are 7 years or less on the lease when you take ownership

Why should I register land / property?

There are a number of benefits to registering your land / property, which include:

• provides you with proof of ownership

• helps protect your land from fraud

• makes it easier to change, sell or give your property aware in the future

Once you are registered, the land registry publishes information about your property online such as, the names of owners, the price paid for the property and a plan of the property’s boundaries.
